c) 5 oz beef (546 mg)
d) 1 banana (361 mg) surprise!
Which has more protein: steak or chicken? Ounce for ounce chicken is higher in protein because beef is higher in fat:
a) 5 oz chicken breast (cal: 229 pro: 43 grams) **b) 5 oz porterhouse steak (cal: 275 pro: 38 gram)
c) 5 oz tilapia (cal: 181 pro: 37 grams)
d) 5 oz burger patty, 90% lean (cal: 376 pro: 36 grams)
Do sugar alcohols count as real carbs? Yes. Sugar alcoholics including sorbitol, maltitol and xybitol are eventually processed in the liver as carbs. They’re marketed as more slowly processed than traditional sweeteners. You’ll notice “net carb” nutrition labels on all sugar alcohol products. However some type 2 diabetics report blood sugar spikes soon after eating “net” carb candy or energy bars. In fact, if you check candy products manufactured for diabetics the package clearly states “not for weight loss”.
If you want to lose weight quickly, avoid sugar alcohols. If you’ve decided to eat SAs anyway, count the carbs at full value in your daily carb tracking. That 25 carb “low carb” energy bar really is 25 carbs -- not the “3” net carbs shown on the label (and 200+ calories).
How many calories will I burn for 60 minutes of horseback riding? A 200 lb person will burn 364 calories during 60 minutes of “active” horseback riding (trotting, posting, cantering, jumping). Or 636 calories for 60 minutes of singles tennis. Really blast calories with a martial arts workout for 909 calories!
